The Sheep and The Shepard

 For this post the media I’m choosing to observe is a Tik Tok I saw earlier this week. I saw the Tik Tok and automatically thought about this blog and the purpose of the blog. The tok tik (posted on my twitter and listed at the end of the post) was a post targeted towards being anti-vaxx for the COVID-19 vaccine. The person posting the video was targeting the “liberal sheep” partying and showing off an article he found that said that the CEO of the Pfizer vaccine had not even taken it himself. I was curious about this and did about 3 minutes of research. Upon the quick research I learned that yes, the CEO of Pfizer did not have his vaccine for two reasons. A. He wanted to wait until the vaccine was available for his age group and didn’t want to “cut in line” and take a vaccine from someone who was very high risk potentially needed the vaccine. B. He also had not had his vaccine because the original article was posted March 5th even though the Tik Tok video was posted mid august. I did a more investigation and the original tweeter of the article also did clarify one day later that he had gotten his first vaccine now and was waiting on the second. This video and lack of research is a perfect example of how media plays a deceiving role in the political news people believe. This post is extremely hypocritical because he his using this article to target the opposite political party calling them “liberal sheep”. The “sheep” terms implies that the “liberals” mentioned will be led blindly and believe anything they’re fed. This is extremely ironic in this situation because the creator did exactly that. He read and article and believed a stranger on the internet instead of doing his own research. All content for this post can be found below as well as my Twitter page :)

    I find it interesting how posts on social media can take one side of a story and turn it into something totally different. You made a really good point, the person who posted the TikTok did not get the full story, when it was easy to do the research to get all the information. I appreciate how you took probably a total of 5 minutes out of your day to find the truth on the story. I wish everyone would do this instead of jumping to conclusions.

 For this weeks blog post I decided to use a Washington Post article (found on my Twitter or at bottom of page) I found. I found a headline about the situation while I was scrolling through my Twitter feed for this class and decided it looked like a good topic to explore. The original headline for the tweet was titled “New York forcing citizens to receive covid vaccine”. I googled “vaccine mandate New York” and found the Washington post article that went more in depth about the situation. Just doing a quick scan through I was able to get some more details about the situation. The mandate has actually been in effect for very long however, a judge recently declined a halt to the mandate. The mandate also does not effect everyone. It only effects municipal employees and only requires one dose of any vaccine. The judge argued that this was no different than requiring a measles vaccine which they gave for years. Ted Cruz and Dr. Faci Fire off

 For this post I went with something that I saw on twitter. I saw a tweet about how Ted Cruz had made a comment saying Dr. Faci should be prosecuted because he is spreading faulty science and finding. After a quick google search I was able to find a TON of article breaking down the details of what provoked this comment. There is a clear bias argument from both parties because Ted Cruz is strictly republican and has always had a more strict way of looking at this. Dr. Faci is clearly more liberal with his ideas and is the chief medical advisor for Biden. A lot of people sided with Ted Cruz on this specific instance agreeing with him. However, Dr. Faci laughed it off and recalled a certain date. Ted Cruz had accused Dr. Faci of stuff like this before and they launched an investigation upon whether his findings were fraudulent. Everyone checked out yet Ted Cruz still continues to not let it go.
